The common threads in Marjolein’s life are Art, Education and Yoga. Her earliest tertiary education was a Diploma in Fine Arts (UCT) and she went on to obtain her M.Ed. (UCT) and Hon.Psych. (Unisa). At a later time she completed the Yoga Teacher Training as well as the Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda courses at Ananda Kutir.
She taught pre-primary children at both a private Waldorf school and a government preparatory school for many years, as well as extra mural Arts and Crafts for older children and adults.
These days she teaches Yoga full time at her home studio with a few corporate day time classes elsewhere. To keep learning and exploring she organizes and attends regular Yoga workshops for Yoga Teachers.
In her spare time she loves reading, going to shows, gardening and traveling far and wide whenever the opportunity arises.
Art, education and Yoga all share a spiritual dimension in the sense that they allow for the freshness of life itself to shine through whatever activity is embarked upon; be it story-telling, play, self-expression in a variety of ways, music, art, tending a garden or movement. It is this quest for self-realization and creative self expression in a meaningful way that is perhaps the driving force for her endeavours so far. In Yoga this translates to establishing a centre that links the individual to a larger universal experience and reality.
